catchment analysis and use of portable xrf AT THE AIG EXPLORATION GEOCHEMISTRY SEMINAR IN PERTH
Dennis recently presented a talk on geochemistry applied to mineral exploration entitled "Application of catchment analysis to regional stream sediment data sets" at the AIG exploration seminar held in Perth, Western Australia on December 3, 2018.
The talk reviews different approaches to interpreting regional stream sediment data using published examples from British Columbia and the Yukon Territory, Canada. Various methods discussed include regression analysis, leveling data for lithological variation, and principal component analysis. The aim of the presentation is to answer the question "How can I correct my geochemical data for the effects of variable background lithology".
In addition, Dennis also presented a short talk entitled "Application of portable XRF (pXRF) to Mineral Exploration" to open a session on the use of portable instrumentation in mineral exploration. This talk focused on the use of portable XRF instrumentation as applied to project-scale soil sampling programs and in the analysis of diamond drill core for copper mineralisation. It addresses the problem of estimating metal contents in diamond drill core using portable XRF instrumentation.
Links to YouTube videos and copies of both presentations will soon be available through the AIG web site.
